Mrs. May, Assistant Principal (A-Le)
Hello! My name is Rebecca May, and I will soon begin my 15th year in Lovejoy ISD. I began my career at Hart Elementary, teaching first grade. After one year at Hart, I was asked to help open Puster Elementary as a fourth grade teacher. I taught math and science at Puster for nine incredible years. The last four years of my career have been at Willow Springs Middle School, serving as the PST/CAT Coordinator for two years, then as my current role of assistant principal for the first half of the alphabet. I have a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from Texas Woman's University, and am certified to teach students who speak English as a second language. I am also an Abydos-certified writing teacher. I completed my Master's Degree in administration through the University of Texas Arlington.
I have lived in this area my entire life, and currently live in Allen with my amazing husband, Steve, our 11th grader, Kaitlyn, and our 7th grader, Austin. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them! They, along with education, are my world!
As an assistant principal, I feel it is important for me to make several promises to all students and their families. First, I will help all students to build a mutual respect for one another. I feel this is the key to each student developing a positive self-worth, and becoming a confident individual. Secondly, I plan to support a balanced curriculum that will provide all students with a quality education. I will always believe each child can achieve his full potential, and will help him to accomplish this in any way possible. I shall be kind and patient with each child, offering him a supportive hand to use as a guide through the process of learning. Lastly, I will offer a safe and secure place for all students to feel comfortable.
