My name is Marty Ball and I am excited to begin my twenty-second year of teaching! I grew up in Texas, beginning band in Canadian, Texas, under the direction Fred Pankratz. Later, my family moved to Midland, Texas, where I was a member of the Robert E. Lee High School Band, under the direction of Randy Storie. I moved to New Mexico, where I attend Goddard High School in Roswell, and then New Mexico State University.
I previously taught in Frisco ISD at Liberty High School and Cobb Middle School, as well as in Plano ISD at Schimelpfenig Middle School. I began my teaching career in Austin ISD. Bands under my direction have consistently received Sweepstakes Awards at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest, won top ratings at local and national festivals, received the National Wind Band Honors Award, and my bands at Schimelpfenig Middle School placed in the top ten of the Texas State Honor Band Competition in Class CC on more than one occasion. I have studied flute with Dr. Lisa Garner-Santa, James Pellerite and James Walker. I studied conducting with Dr. William Clark and continue to attend conduction seminars and workshops.
This year I will be teaching Beginning Clarinet and Beginning Tuba at Sloan Creek IS, Wind Ensemble and Concert Band at Willow Springs Middle School.
