I was born in Arlington, TX and graduated from Martin HS. I attended the University of North Texas and graduated in 1993 ("Get your talons up!") and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. I began teaching in Lewisville, TX where I taught 8th grade English for 5 years. I then chose to stay at home with my two sassy and now-grown children. I returned to teaching, after 8 years at home, here in Lovejoy, and this year, 21-22 will be my 20th year in the profession and my 15th year in Lovejoy (teaching 7th-grade Advanced & GT English). I have two very entertaining and active children, both graduates of Lovejoy HS. My daughter graduated from Oklahoma State University (Go Pokes!) and now works for CDW in Plano; my son is a junior at Texas A&M studying Industrial & Systems Engineering (Gig'em!) My, my how time flies! My husband and I now join the empty-nesters' club... for a second time (thanks COVID) :) We have been blissfully married for 25 years this November. My hobbies are reading, traveling, jogging, binging anything streaming, sarcasm, and eating Mexican food. My mother is a retired teacher with 35 years, and my father is a retired Arlington police officer with 36 years. I was raised within a framework that valued the importance of education, hard work, a positive attitude, and helping others. I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a child, as my mother tells tales of my many hours playing school and giving my younger brother A LOT of homework! ;) Teaching is my passion, my service, and my professional identity. When my students succeed, there is my reward.
