Kent came to Lovejoy ISD in 2006, the inaugural year of our secondary program.  During his first year in Lovejoy, Kent had the opportunity to work under both Gavan Goodrich and Mike Goddard (former principal at LHS) and experience the full secondary program from the start.  He was also instrumental in transitioning the middle school from the high school campus to Sloan Creek.

Prior to becoming principal at Willow Springs Middle School, he served as assistant principal and principal at Sloan Creek Middle School for the past five years.  He is currently working on his Educational Doctorate through Creighton University in Interdisciplinary Leadership.

Kent grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and attended Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.  At Emporia State, Kent played college baseball and received his bachelor's degree in secondary education.

Upon graduating from Emporia State, Kent began his teaching career in Albuquerque at Rio Rancho High School, a brand new, state of the art facility built by the Intel Corporation.  At Rio Rancho High, Kent had the opportunity to contribute to the innovative development of new curriculum and programs.  During this time, he received his master's degree in secondary education from the University of New Mexico.

Kent moved to Dallas in 2000 and spent one year with the Plano Independent School District teaching 7th Grade.  In 2001, Kent joined the faculty at Highland Park High school where he taught  AP Human Geography and coached football and baseball.   He spent five years with Highland Park ISD during which he served as an instructional team leader, assisted in writing the HPISD curriculum for Pre AP World Geography, and was a member of the football coaching staff when the Highland Park Scots won the 4A Texas state football championship in 2005.

Kent also has a passion for music.  At both Highland Park High School and Sloan Creek Middle School he has worked with students interested in playing the guitar.  You may have also caught one of his performances at various district and community events in Lovejoy.

Kent’s wife, Jennifer, is the General Counsel at Mt. Vernon Investments in Dallas.  They have three sons: Coleson (11), Case (8), and Crews (6).
